Best of biodiesel: Biodiesel additives

Biodiesel additives:
- Alkaline(Sodium, Potassium) metylate as catalyst(initiator in the transesterification process) for efficiency and productivity transesterification.
- Antioxidants for effective stabilization and storage.
In every phase of lifecycle, from manufacturing to storage to combustion in the engine, biodiesel is subjected to oxidative influences. It starts with the so called radical degradation reactions that caused undisered polymers, aggresive acids and peroxides. Biodiesel ages a lot faster than petroleum diesel and its use by date is very often exceeded by the time the biodiesel finally makes it to the end user. Therefore additives are needed to effectively keep shelf life up and cost down.
- Defoamers to enhance multifuntional diesel additive packages.
Excessive foaming, reduced filling capacity, longer filling times and thus reduced productivity at the fuel pump. These are the main reasons why deafomers have become a key component in multifuntional diesel additive packages. This applies to conventional fuels and even more so to fuels with a 5% biodiesel content, which represents the bulk of biodiesel sales.
